Who is a Liturgical Consultant ?
A liturgical consultant is a person who assists the parish or congregation in a renovation or construction project by bringing expertise in art, architecture, church history, sacraments and ritual, consensus building and decision building and decision making. A consultant helps the parish articulate its needs and vision, leads an education/formation process, works with an architect in all design phases and other professionals as needed, guides and assists the renovation/building committee.
Philosophy Statement:
My consulting is a ministry of working with parishes and congregations to search together for the best solutions in addressing sacred space needs following church document norms. It includes education/formation, design and participative decision making based on a discernment model. It is my role to be an open listener, help the faith community articulate its story, vision and needs, ask objective, challenging questions, affirm good decisions, provide leadership, and work collaboratively with the faith community and other professionals throughout the project.
The spiritual growth of the parish or congregation during a project is a priority. I believe it is important to know and respect the local culture of the parish and the area. My primary focus is assisting rural parishes in South Dakota, Iowa and other surrounding states.
