Jennifer Knight entered Sacred Heart Monastery during a ceremony preceding Evening Prayer on July 27. Jennifer will spend her time as a Postulant learning about Benedictine life by sharing in the prayer and community life of the monastery.
Jennifer is a native of North Carolina and a veteran of the US Air Force. She earned a BS degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming and worked as a corporate accountant for a number of years. She is also a trained pilot and flight instructor. She later earned her Master Catechist certification through the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah and then taught Faith Formation and sacramental preparation in Utah and Wyoming. She has also done Hospice ministry. Prior to entering Sacred Heart Monastery, she taught theology at St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, MT.
After visiting the monastery the first time, Jennifer says she was “impressed with the beautiful liturgies, the sisters’ devotion to prayer, their dedication to their myriad ministries, and the community’s joie de vivre (joy of living).” She also experienced “a sense of joy here (in the monastery) evidenced by the sisters’ faces and their ready laughter. It was easy to call Sacred Heart home right from the very beginning.”
