                        S. Marie Kranz and S. Ann Fasbender.

     S. Julie Peak OSB renewed her monastic profession for two years during Evening Prayer on Sunday, August 1at Sacred Heart Monastery.  In the ceremony, she renewed her profession of obedience, stability and fidelity to the monastic way of life according to the Rule of St. Benedict and the lived tradition of Sacred Heart Monastery. S. Jill says, “It was through the Holy Spirit, along with the voice of God, that I felt drawn to renew my vows. I am grateful and thankful to the community for their loving support as I continue my journey in this monastic way of life and in the community.”

   S. Jill is the daughter of James and Karen Young of rural Sioux Falls.  She entered Sacred Heart Monastery in August, 2003 and made her first profession in February 2006.  She says that she was drawn to community by the warm hospitality of the sisters when she visited as a guest. S. Jill’s ministry includes assisting with duties in the monastery guest department.  Reflecting on her ministry she says, “Because of the hospitality that I have received, I can share it with the guests to whom I serve in the guest department and the sisters that I serve on a daily basis as I try to carry out St. Benedict’s admonition that all guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ.”

In a gesture of openness, S. Jill extends her

hands while the "Sucipe" (Uphold me O Lord)

                     is sung by the community.
