| Sisters Jane and Jeanette Klimisch OSB received Honorary Doctorates from Mount Marty College during the 2009 Fall Commencement Exercises on December 12. Both sisters were honored for their many years of dedication to Mount Marty College and their many contributions to the arts.
Both sisters began their teaching ministry at Mount Marty in 1943. S. Jane taught music and S. Jeanette taught speech and drama as well as directed many plays and pageants. In addition to her teaching duties, S. Jane has served as monastery organist and has composed numerous pieces of liturgical music. Both sisters have served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mount Marty.
S. Jeanette also served as Alumni Director from 1976-81 prior to becoming the Assistant Prioress at Sacred Heart Monastery from 1981-1989. She has most recently served as monastery oral historian.
After retiring from teaching, S. Jane served as college archivist. In 1971 she started the Sacred Music Resource Center to collect and preserve important publications of Gregorian Chant. The collection, which is housed at Sacred Heart Monastery, is one of only two such collecitons in the United States.
