S. Marielle Frigge OSB, Ph.D. was honored at a book signing event in the Mount Marty College Bookstore on September 28. She recently authored a college text, Beginning Biblical Studies, which was published by Anselm Academic, the college division of Saint Mary's Press, in Winona, MN.
After 30 years of teaching scripture at Mount Marty College, S. Marielle drew on her educational experience, the needs of her students, and her own love of scripture to write this introductory text for use in her Biblical Studies course. According to the publisher, "The text includes background on basic biblical events, figures, tgerminology, and major themes to guide undergraduates who may be unfamiliar with either the academic study of religion or the Bible itself."
S. Marielle credits S. Wilma Lyle OSB, Ph.D., her scripture professor at Mount Marty College in the 1960s, for instilling in her a love of scripture. This love of scripture combined with her undergraduate degree in English, an MA in scriptural theology from the Washington Theological Union, and a PhD in theology and education from Boston College, and her many years of classroom teaching all contributed to the authoring of the text.
Beginning Biblical Studies is available in the Monastery Gift Shop, the Mount Marty College Bookstore, and from Anselm Academic.
