NEBRASKA CHAPTER

Started in 1993, the Nebraska Chapters have seen significant growth from Lincoln, into the surrounding communities.  Many Nebraska Oblates are now spread throughout the country, either linking with other monasteries or continuing their annual renewal with Sacred Heart Monastery/Nebraska Chapter. 

Annually in August, there are several orientation sessions for persons interested in learning more about the Oblates.  A process of formation is explained for the Initial Formation for new members and the On-Going Formation for all Oblates.  Individual orientation sessions are available upon request.  See calendar for scheduled dates.

On the second Sunday of November, the Oblation Ceremony is held in the James E. Ryan Memorial Chapel at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, 5401 South Street.  It is then that Inquirers make their first Oblation, Novice Oblates make their final Oblation and other Oblates make their renewal of Oblation. 

In addition to the General Assembly Chapter meetings, Novice Oblates join Companion groups and all other Oblates join Cell groups for continuing study. 

An annual retreat is arranged either in conjunction with Sacred Heart Monastery or with other monasteries that are within driving distance of Lincoln. 

A mobile library of Benedictine and Scriptural books are available for signing out.

LINCOLN:

All general assembly meetings are held at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, 5401 South Street.  Enter the east entrance of Madonna. The James E. Ryan Chapel is next to the Commons.  

Sunday evening Chapter meetings are held from 7 – 9 p.m., the second Sunday of each month.  Meetings are held in the north Commons Cafeteria.

Monday evening Chapter meetings are held from 7 – 9 on the Monday after the second Sunday of the month.  Meetings are held in the Flanagan Room. 

STEINAUER:

Monday evenings: 7 – 9 p.m. All meetings will be held in the Banquet Room across the street from St. Anthony’s Church, the first and third Monday of each month unless otherwise specified.

HASTINGS:

Monthly meetings are held every second Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Family Room or other designated room at St. Michael’s Church, 715 Creighton Avenue.
